An Australian grandfather has become a millionaire after fortuitously finding a winning lottery ticket a whole year after its initial purchase.

The man found the ticket whilst cleaning out his car, in the side docket of a shopping bag.

He plans on spending the money on his children’s house repayments, and on education for his grandchildren.

We consider it a success when we find a matching pair of socks, let alone a winning lottery ticket!

$500,000 donation to fund new Alzheimer’s center at Shore Medical

It has been reported that the Shore Medical Center has been presented with a cheque for $500,000 from Ocean City Masonic Lodge 171. This will allow the group to establish the Flora Baker Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Centre.

The generous donation came from the centre’s name-sake, Flora Baker, who died in 2014 aged 95.

The CEO of Shore medical centre, Ron Johnson, has said that the centre will fill a tremendous need for care in the local community. Withouth the donation, the centre and related services would not be possible.

Elderly woman finds rare Jane Austen £5 note worth £50,000 and pledges to donate money to help young people

An elderly woman has found a special £5 note worth £50,000.

You may be thinking, ‘yes, this is nice. What a lucky lady, good for her’. However, it is the ladies altruistic pledge that really makes this story a great read.

The lady in question, who asked to remain nameless, has promised to donate the proceeds from the sale of the note to help young people in need. The lady selflessy noted that she did not need the money at this time of her life, and felt it could be used for better causes.

And there is further good news. There is still one of these precious notes in circulation. So, in much the same manner as Charlie and his golden ticket, keep your eyes peeled for note number ‘AM 32 885554’.
